More Images of Tornado in Venice Today

I wanted to post a few more photos now that more news is available regarding the twister that almost hit the historical center of Venice.

Again, no deaths but 30 people have been injured.  There has been damage to buildings, crops and destruction of one of the boatyards.  ANSA has the latest article here.

I had just arrived by train in Venice and was sitting having coffee in Campo S. Sofia (in Cannaregio) when the staff ran to the tv to see the twister. I didn’t really believe it at first but when I boarded the vaporetto to go to an appointment on the other side of San Marco Square, I realized that it must be true as I saw the really dark cloud in the background and it got really windy. I knew that I was in good hands on the vaporetto and in the end, it cleared up. Today its sunny in Venice but I am going to watch the weather reports LOL. Cinzia

Oh my goodness! That is not something I would have expected to see in Venice, crazy stuff and very happy that nobody was killed.

What a crazy wild event to happen…I had NO idea about this until you shared it. The crop damage is the worst of it, since that is the local food supply. Yikes!
