Top Ten: My Favorite Italian Themed Movies

10.  Under the Tuscan Sun

The reason this movie isn’t any higher on my list is that I get mad every time I see it because it has absolutely nothing in common with the book.  The hot Italian does help make up for it though.

Eat, Pray, Love

9.  Eat, Pray, Love

Only the first part of this movie is set in Rome but it made the movie for me.  The scenes are well set and they actually filmed the pizza in Naples at Da Michele (nothing makes me more irritated when they say they are somewhere but I know better.

8.  The Italian Job

A heist in Venice gone wrong leads to this story of revenge.

7.  The Red Violin

Filmed in Italy, this is a dramatic story about a violin and its passage from owner to owner.

6. The Talented Mr Ripley

Not a warm fuzzy movie by any means but the scenery is gorgeous and perfect for a cold winter night.

5.  Roman Holiday

I had to include this classic set in Rome with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.

4.  Angels and Demons

I am that annoying person when watching this movie.  I can’t help it, I’ve been almost everywhere it was filmed and I get so excited.

3.  Life is Beautiful

An Oscar winner and emotional movie about a Jewish Italian family taken to a Nazi concentration camp.

Big Night

2.  Big Night

Not many people have even heard of this movie about two brothers struggling to make their Italian restaurant succeed.  Movie must be watched with a glass of wine and followed by a night out for an Italian meal.  Trust me.

1.  Gladiator

I’m a sucker for a good action movie and this has it all.  Love.  Betrayal.  Revenge.  Blood and guts.
