‘Tis the season for gratitude, and even though Thanksgiving Day has come and gone, we should continue to reflect on what we are thankful for. To give you a little gratitude and travel inspiration, here are 5 reasons to be thankful for Italy.
Pizza, spaghetti alla carbonara, bruschetta, tiramisu, gelato. The list could go on an on. It’s no secret that Italy produces some mouthwatering dishes, and I know I will be forever indebted to this nation for its culinary expertise.
Where would we be without Gucci, Prada, or Versace? Well, maybe a couple hundred dollars richer. Even if you don’t have the bank to support the Italian fashion culture, you can still appreciate its impact and reach.
Italy is overflowing with stories of old told through its art, architecture, and culture. We owe it to the people who have come and gone before us, which allows us to now admire the beauty of historical sites such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, and much more.
Artists such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Caravaggio have greatly impacted the world of art, and fortunately, they left behind a collection of remarkable masterpieces that we can continue to appreciate.
Let’s be honest, Italy produces some beautiful people. And it produces some people with a whole lot of personality. Beyond that, Italians exude so many cultural values that we can learn from and be inspired by.
Have I convinced you to visit this beautiful country yet? I could spend all day talking about why I’m grateful for Italy, but these general reasons are enough to get me thinking about my New Year’s travel resolutions a little early this year. And I hope they do the same for you. ~ Kalina Davis.
